Word Works

The study of common rimes, or word families, is vital to students' early reading and writing skills. Spelling with word families and rhyming words helps young children make connections in both reading and writing. It is essential for success in literacy.

Each week your child will learn a new Word Family. Have your child practice making as many words as they can with the chunk.

For example: -ug

bug rug slug plug hug dug

Have your child look for these spelling patterns when they read.
